Size Matters

Okay friends, three people have said something to me this past week about missing the blog so I thought I would try to crank a few posts out in the coming weeks.  Today’s is timely because football season is upon us and terrorism is real. (I’m sure I’m on a government watch list now because I said the T word on my blog and I am good with that.)  If you are a woman and a football fan you have probably heard there are new guidelines for handbags that can be carried into stadiums these days.  —Bags or purses must now be clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. Small one compartment, clutch purses are also allowed as long as they are no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.— We actually received an approved clear tote with our football tickets this year.  I told Tim it felt like getting a free drink at a casino.  That tote is currently the most expensive handbag I own.

There is a company making clear totes approved by major sporting and entertainment venues that comes in two sizes with customized straps that accommodate most team colors and logos.  Personally I like the leather straps, but I’m not planning on purchasing one.  Number one, I’m not feeling this look and number two, if you are the person in your group carrying the biggest bag you become the designated wallet/lipstick/cell phone/etc carrier.  I don’t want to be responsible for your stuff people.

As to not be a total yawner with my accessories this coming weekend in Dallas for the big opener, I’ve been on a web search for weeks for small purses no bigger than an index card that will hold MY newly edited game day essentials:  ticket, lipstick, deodorant wipe, license, cell phone, and beauty blender blotters (a new fave of mine).  The pickings are slim but I’ve found a few in all price ranges (Target to Neimans) that roughly fit into these size restrictions.  Will Security be standing around with rulers at the gate?  I have no clue, but a few of these bags fall slightly out of the guidelines so be warned.
