Cyber Monday 2014 has come and gone and I am sure the huge national online retailers like Amazon and Piperlime killed it. Who doesn’t like shopping in their pajamas. However, there are lots of Alabama small businesses that have an online presence, so in an effort to support the home team, I am sharing with y’all a few of my favorites. Several of the items on this list would make great Christmas gifts for your teachers and neighbors.
Yellowhammer Supply Company
This website went live Monday and is the latest from Yellowhammer Multimedia. Yellowhammer Supply Company is a branded product and clothing line that comes from the successful content brand, Yellowhammer News. As you might guess the line is all things Alabama and includes a variety of high-end polos, soft-shell vests, t-shirts, hats and iPhone cases. Their signature colors are yellow and grey, but also offer orange and blue as well as crimson and white combinations.
Rebecca Williamson started Holmsted Fines in 2013 after attending culinary school in London. There she discoved the versatility of chutney. Green Tomato, Peach and Balsamic Red Onion are the three flavors she offers and while they are delicious with cream cheese and a cracker check out the amazing recipes she has provided on her site that incorporate the complex flavors of chutney. Holmsted Fines also gives back 10% of all earnings to charity. (Side note–A friend of mine in Birmingham ordered 15 jars of Chutney from Holmsted Fines yesterday and it was on her doorstep by 3 pm.)
Alabama Forever is a non-profit organization that was formed in response to the devastating April 27, 2011 tornados that roared through Alabama. Long after the devastation from the tornadoes has past Forever Alabama continues to improve the quality of life for the residents of our great state. Rather than simply giving back, Alabama Forever assists the residents and communities by offering viable resolutions to maintain the best possible life for the citizens of Alabama for generations to come. The Forever Alabama Christmas Ornament is one of several items they offer in their online store.
Tlish Salad Dressings, Marinades and Sauces
Y’all this stuff is just good. Tiffany Denson started making this and giving it to friends at Christmas and has now turned her secret recipe into a full blown brand! Tlish is sold online and in local grocery stores as well as huge chains like Publix and Whole Foods. In Birmingham the Western Supermarket sells five times more Tlish than any other dressing!

I love Wickles pickles and Wickles pickled okra. I even put Wickles relish on my turkey sandwich today which means I am officially turning in to my mother, but that is for another post.
If someone gave me any of the gazillion flavors of olive oils or balsamic vinegars from Olio I would not be mad. I love cooking with these and the flavors add a new demention to your recipes. Right now I am hot on the Persian Lime Olive Oil and the Grapefruit White Balsamic. This combo makes a killer salad dressing when combined with shallots and dijon mustard.
