Be in the Know

April 11, 2016

By Buffy York

Before you just totally tune out I want to ask you a few things.  Number one, did you know that Deborah Stone was the first person to open a day spa in Birmingham way back in the early 90’s?  Number two, did you know that her spa was the first independent boutique to carry Darphin and the 4th Trish McEvoy account in the entire United States?  Number three, did you know that back in the day, like three years ago, Deborah and her daughter Alex introduced the folks of Birmingham to fresh juicing at The Pantry long before Whole Foods was on board?

What I am trying to say here ladies (and the two gents that read my blog) is that Deborah and Alex Stone have it going on, and clearly they have their finger on the pulse of the latest and greatest!  This is why I am telling you, sight unseen, that she is bringing a mac daddy make up artist, along with his complete line of cosmetics and fabuloso make up brushes, to town this week.  Deborah and Alex’s latest venture, Botaniko, is the most recent stop for Claudio Riaz.

Claudio Riaz is a former Barney’s New York exclusive, but compliments of Botaniko, he is in Birmingham this week (his cosmetics are here to stay).  You can make a one on one appointment with Claudio and his beautiful makeup and much talked about brushes this Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, April 13, 14 and 15th.  Reservations can be booked for $100, which can be redeemed in Claudio Riaz product by calling 205-568-7277 or emailing info@botanikoskin.com.

If you are all about being the first to be in the know you might want to book an appointment now.  Just sayin’

Raise your hand if you are finished with all of your Christmas shopping?  Me either.  If you are out and about in Homewood on Thursday, December 17th you will want to pop in Fab’rik Homewood and check out not one, but two trunk shows they are having with local artisans from 11 am to 7 pm.  Becky Stayner from the Biscuit Leather Company will have her beautifully hand-crafted leather belts, edgy clutches perfect for a night out and handbags that could can everything you need.  Becky’s attention to detail and use of quality materials makes these pocketbooks only get better with age.  Kerri Malone, of Kerrick Jewelry Designs, will also be on hand with lots of fun baubles that could stuff a stocking or complete an outfit.  Their designs come in a wide variety of price points suitable for everyone on your list.  Speaking of outfits, Fab’rik also has lots of fun fashions and accessories that make great gifts or would be perfect for your holiday parties.  They also sell my favorite candle, Votivo Red Currant, and they just got in a smaller version that would make a great neighbor or hostess gift.  Best of all, if you bring in a non-perishable food item for The Community Food Bank, you will receive 20% off (excluding trunk show) your entire purchase!

If you see something you “need” for yourself send your husband or boyfriend back from 5 pm to 7 pm for a “Guys’ Night Out” where they can check a few items off of their list while enjoying a craft beer tasting from Good People Brewing Company.

Fab’rik Homewood is also giving away a $100 giftcard on The Style Gathering’s IG account today!.  Click here to enter.  It is so easy!
