Gift Guide | Coeds

November 20, 2014

By Buffy York

While I have visited several college campuses this season for gameday, and I do pay attention to what the latest trends are, I did not compile this list on my own.  I consulted several of my current and past babysitters who are all enrolled in universities around the Southeast.  Thank you ladies for all of your input.  As you read the list below, be on the lookout for any glaring gaps I might have left in the wants of needs of college coeds.  Please feel free to leave a comment below.  Feedback is huge!

1.  Pure Barre Membership
Pure Barre is the quickest way to lift your seat, tone your thighs and burn calories.  What girl is not interested in all of the above?  With over 200 locations nationwide most college towns have a resident Pure Barre franchise. Here are the links and telephone numbers for several locations around the South.
Pure Barre Oxford 662-638-5272 | Pure Barre Birmingham 205-870-7279 | Pure Barre Tuscaloosa 205-349-0011 | Pure Barre Auburn 334-887-0007 | Pure Barre Baton Rouge 225-300-8872 | Pure Barre New Orleans 504-342-2208 | Pure Barre Athens 706-850-4000 | Pure Barre Nashville 615-904-4585 | Pure Barre Lexington 859-335-2391
Most locations offer super discounts for students.

2.  Scarves
Blanket Scarves, infinity scarves, scarves with secret pockets…everyone needs a new scarf to gear up for our crazy winters.

3.  Crossbody Bags
Crossbody bags are great for going out and football games.  Rebecca Minkoff and Tory Burch seem to have the corner on the collegiate market, but my new favorite is Kelly Wynne.  I took a trip to Oxford for the Alabama game and noticed these on The Grove and I am adding this one to my own Christmas List.

4.  Booties
Booties come in a gazillion different styles for every taste and budget.

5.  Barbour Jackets
Looking around college campuses you would think that every girl is headed to a dove shoot directly after class.  Who cares if this is a current trend or not, the quality and classic cuts of this brand will last a lifetime.

6.  Planners and Daily Devotionals
A new year brings New Year’s Resolutions and the book and planners below are perfect to stay on track and organized.
Jesus Calling for Women | Erin Condren Planner | Kate Spade | May Designs Planner

7.  Outdoor Boots
The Polar Vortex is the perfect excuse to skip class unless you are equipped with the right footwear.  Each of the brands below have lots of styles to choose from to protect you from the elements.
Sorel | Hunter | L.L. Bean | Uggs
(I own these Uggs and they are the greatest.  Warm and waterproof and as far as Uggs go, great looking)

8.  Scarlet and Gold Phone Cases
This a great brand based out of Auburn, Alabama with tons of elegant stationary, prints and placemats, but I love their phone cases.  They have lots of fun styles and a line designed by Catherine Lowe of The Bachelor.  They also have great looking line of collegiate phone cases that show your allegiance without being too over the top.

9.  Girly Go Garter
When I was in school we called this duct tape.  You are just going to have to click the link their webpage to understand the awesomness of this product.  Of course they can be monogrammed.

10.  Stocking Stuffers
Last week I did a full post on stocking stuffers for teenage girls and most of the items on the list, any girl, any age would love to have.  Things like Flash Tattoos and phone chargers.  Click here for the full list.

11.  Volcano Candle
Because they are pretty and they smell oh so good and they are made in Mississippi!

I want #9! Clever. Good article Buff.

Yes, barre classes can and will lift your glutes, tone and firm better than any other exercise option. Just watch “Dancing with the Stars!” Pure Barre franchises are not your only option. I have taught Barre classes at the Mtn Brook YMCA for years AND they are included in your Y membership! Much more cost effective choice. Give it a try and change your body composition!

The LLBean site is in Japanese!

I guess I need to fix that. Thanks for the heads up.
