I will admit that I am not the first to jump on, or even like, some of the trends out there. For example, take the crop top. You will not see me in one. As plaid has re-emerged on the scene the past few years I really thought I might let it cycle out without a stitch hanging in my closet. I’m not sure if my negativity towards plaid stems from its association with the whole 90’s Pearl Jam grunge thing or that it has reminded me of Larry and his brother Darryl and his other brother Darryl. Whatever my beef with plaid has been I cannot ignore it this season because it is all over the place. I mean, I’m the style gatherer I gotta get on board, and admittedly it is growing on me. Looking around the internet and talking to one of my “in the know” friends I found the the brand Rails and I dig it. They have great looking plaids in great fabrics with stylish cuts. However, at over $100 a shirt I couldn’t click the purchase button, not for something that trendy anyway. Then, the other day cruising through Target I found this little number. At $22.99 I scooped it up and it is now in heavy wearing rotation. It really is the perfect shirt for right now for two reasons. Number one, It is still hot as blazes in Alabama and this shirt is super sheer. Number two, I feel stupid kickin it in September in my bright summer clothes, that I am sick of anyway, and the colors in this plaid make for a perfect addition to my fall wardrobe.

Katie DickensI found a super cute one at Target a few weeks ago too! A traditional red and navy plaid that doesn’t button all the way down. It looks like a J. Crew shirt for 1/3 of the price!. Can’t wait to pair it with a fur vest and boots this fall! Although, I love a gauzy fabric with longer sleeves for early fall in the south. Might have to go check this one out! (By the way, that blue looks amazing on you!)
