To celebrate their Black Diamond status with Allergan the ladies of Village Dermatology hosted a wine and cheese party outside of their office at Olexa’s Cafe in Mountain Brook Village.  Allergan is the maker of Botox, Juvederm and several other products we women find to be modern miracles.  The Black Diamond status is a distinction given to only the top 1% of all Allergan dermatology and plastic surgeon accounts.

The evening kicked off with Dr. Jenny Sobera telling us about the “Village Essentials” which are basically her five favorite treatments.  Number one is Botox, an injectable that temporarily improves the look of modorate to severe frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet in adults.  Basically it minimizes the |’s ||’s and |||’s in between our brows or as Dr. Sobera says it helps us to not look so angry.  Your husbands and children will appreciate that.  Number two is Juvederm, a filler that smooths out wrinkles and folds aroung the nose and mouth.  The physicians at Village Dermatology think of it as a product that can restore a more youthful appearance, not somthing that can “make us look freakish.”  Next up is Voluma XC.  Voluma received appoval from the FDA in December and is indicated to add volume to the cheek area.  It lasts 18-24 months and I have seen it in action in three of my friends. My appointment is on the books.  Number four is Latisse.  Our eyelashes are probably the last things on our minds when we think about aging, but long full lashes can really make a difference in our looks.  Latisse is a product that can increase eyelash length and fullness in 16 weeks and give a more youthful fresh eyed appearance.  Last on her list of favorites is the skin care line SkinMedica.  This is my personal “crack.”  My BFF, or as I like to call her “my dealer” was the SkinMedica representative in Atlanta for many years and she has me addicted to the entire line. The photograph above is my bathroom counter but Dr. Sobera says that hers looks very similar.

The SkinMedica product line falls directly in line with Village Dermatology’s G.R.A.S.S. approach to anti-aging skincare.  G is for growth-factors which are found in SkinMedica’s TNS Essential Serum (Dr. Sobera’s desert island product) and TNS Recovery Complex.  is for Retinols.  SkinMedica Retinols are not like Retin-A, they have a lipid layer that cuts down on irritation and also have an added bonus of an anti-oxidant.  Speaking of, A is for Anti-Oxidant whis is found in the TNS Essential Serum.  S is for specialty products such as Latisse or Lytera, an agent that is a  non-hydroquinone based lightening agent used to brighten the skin.  The final S is for sunscreen.  Surely I dont need to expand on sunscreen.  All of the products mentioned above can be purchased at Village Dermatology but be sure to enter the contest below for a chance to win SkinMedica’s TNS Recovery Complex and TNS Ulitimate Daily Moisturizer SPF 20.
