Back in the day when I was 24, before Botox and blogs existed, I worked for a non-profit organization and there was a group of volunteers who worked tirelessly to raise money for the cause in which I worked. Two to three times a year these ladies would get together for a meeting or a luncheon and I was in awe of the detail and effort put into their appearance. Actually it was probably effortless on their part but for me it was a time when I realized that details and dressing the part were important. Men go to work everyday in tailored suits, looking dapper even on Casual Fridays so, as women, when we decide to get out of our Lululemon and participate in the real world, we need to look our best.
Next Wednesday, October 15th the 57th Linly Heflin Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show will take place in Birmingham at the Sheraton Birmingham Civic Center Ballroom. My unbelievably energetic and little firecracker stylist friend, Tracy James is giving the show a facelift and will be producing and styling the show, bringing an energy unseen in the years past. She and I decided to play dress up last week at Gus Mayer and she threw together a few looks that would work for the Linly Heflin Show or any luncheon you might be attending.
