You Put What on Those Strawberries?

A few weeks ago when I got together with the girls from Oli.o for our Champagne Party I asked them to bring the Vanilla Balsamic Vinegar. While they were setting up the champagne and vinegar bar, I was busy cutting up strawberries. Adding sugar and the balsamic didn’t seem to peak anyone’s interest, but when I busted out the fresh cracked pepper and sea salt a few eyebrows were raised. I just told everyone to trust me. They were blown away! This is one of the first desserts I made to impress my husband and it is fantastic. Spooning the strawberry mixture over a freshly baked pound cake or really good vanilla ice cream is unbelievable. There are so many flavors that work perfectly together, it leaves your mouth confused and fired up at the same time.
Vanilla Balsamic Strawberries with Fresh Cracked Pepper
(makes about 2 1/2 cups)
16 ounce container of fresh strawberries quartered
1/2 cup Oli.o Vanilla Balsamic Vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
2-3 teaspoons of fresh cracked pepper
2-3 teaspoons of sea salt or vanilla infused salt from Savor Salt Company
Mix all ingredients together and let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving. Spoon several tablespoons onto pound cake, sponge cake or vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
This is my favorite recipe for Pound Cake. The only thing I do differently is use 1 tablespoon of almond extract and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
